ABOUT

L'Alphabet du Roi Sejong

J.-C. Loubet del Bayle sketches the development of Pan Tchel in 1446, a phonetic language introduced by an order of king Sejong (1419-1451). Hangul ("the grand writing") developed from that by combining consonants and vowels into one roughly square-shaped box, so Hangul is a syllabic way of writing, just like hiragana in Japan.
