Analysis of Algorithms 2006 (AofA 2006)
Alden Biesen, Belgium, 2-8 July 2006

The workshop

AofA 2006 was the 12th annual meeting on the Analysis of Algorithms. Previous meetings were held in Schloss Dagstuhl, Germany (1993, 1995, 1997), Princeton, USA (1998), Barcelona, Spain (1999), Krynica Morska, Poland (2000), Tatihou, France (2001), Strobl, Austria (2002), San Miniato, Italy (2003), Berkeley, USA (2004), and Barcelona, Spain (2005). Its main purpose is to exchange ideas and foster collaboration around the themes of analytic, combinatorial and probabilistic methods, randomized algorithms, and theoretical aspects of trees, graphs, strings and other mathematical structures.

AofA 2006 was held from 2-8 July 2006 in the Landcommanderij Alden Biesen in the north-eastern part of Belgium. Nowadays the castle is a state cultural centre, owned by the Flemish Community. Picture page.

After the 2006 meeting, AofA had meetings in Juan Les Pins, France (2007), Maresias, Brazil (2008) and Fréjus, France (2009).

Bigger map of Belgium: We are located in the northeast part of the country.

Finally, thanks to Google and Google Earth, some maps from rough to more and more detailed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. The Conference thus takes place at 50.84177 degrees northern lattitude and 5.52048 degrees to the east of Greenwich.

Hiking, biking

We have collected various maps of the region, including more maps of the castle, several hiking trail maps and explanations, bike tour maps, and detailed topological maps.
