Nicolete Gray
British author (b. 1911, Stevenage, d. 1997) of Nineteenth Century Ornamented Typefaces (University of California Press, Berkeley, CA, 1938, revised in 1976), Lettering as Drawing, Lettering on Buildings (1960) and A History of lettering (Phaidon, 1986). For examples from the first mentioned book, see here. She taught at the Central School of Art and Design (London) from 1964 to 1981. |
