Swiss designer (b. 1932, Zürich) who studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule under Rudolf Bircher and Walter Käch. He created his own graphic art studio in Zürich where he practiced typography, symbol and logo creation, and packaging design. Creator of Friz Quadrata (1965, Visual Graphic Corp). It was released by ITC in 1974, after Victor Caruso added a bold weight. Two italics were created by Thierry Puyfoulhoux in 1994. Finally, a Cyrillic version was developed at ParaGraph in 1997 by Alexander Tarbeev. Friz Quadrata is part of the Linotype library, but Adobe, Bitstream and ITC all have versions. FontShop link.
