Founder of the famous design company Wolff Olins in 1965. Presently, it has offices in London, San Francisco, Barcelona, New York and Tokyo. This company is guilty of many custom typefaces, and employed at some point people such as Jeremy Tankard. WO specializes in brand typing. Renault is a custom typeface designed in 1972 by Olins. It is a Times-like serif family [R690 Roman on the SoftMaker MegaFont XXL CD, 2002].In 1993, National Westminster contracted them to make the NatWest corporate family, which was then drawn by David Quay and Freda Sack, and digitized by Bruno Maag. Wolff also designed the beautiful Tate Gallery Corporate Typeface. During his employment at Wolff Olins (UK), Michael Barbosa started work on Metroplis (1995) for Metroplisboa, the Lisbon subway. This typeface was subsequently drawn by Freda Sack and David Quay at The Foundry, London. |
