Peter Matthias Noordzij
Influential Dutch type designer and teacher, b. The Hague, 1961, who founded The Enschedé Font Foundry in 1991. Together with Petr van Blokland and Peter Verheul and several others, he is vaste docent in typography at the Koninklijke Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag. Son of Gerrit Noordzij. He is best known for his typeface PMN Caecilia (1990) which he developed during his studies at KABK. PMN Caecilia is a humanist-inspired unbracketed slab serif typeface with thick, blocky and very legible letters. It was used in Amazon's Kindle. In 2013, Linotype released Caecilia eText (larger x-height, wider spacing), and in 2017 PMN Caecilia Sans. |
