Ruari McLean
Scottish typographer and scholar, b. near Newton Stewart, Galloway, 1917, d. 2006. Author of "Jan Tschichold: Typographer" (1975). He wrote the classic "The Thames&Hudson Manual of Typography," originally published in 1980. He also wrote "True to Type: A Typographical Autobiography," published by Oak Knoll Press in the United States and Werner Shaw in the UK. McLean was raised in Oxford and spent most of his life in London. Obituary. |
