Ruari McLean Scottish typographer and scholar, b. near Newton Stewart, Galloway, 1917, d. 2006. McLean was raised in Oxford and spent most of his life in London. He started as a designer for Penguin books on their Puffin Picture Books line. Author of these texts: Jan Tschichold: Typographer (1975). The Thames and Hudson Manual of Typography.
