ATypI 2007: TypeTech ATypI 2007 was held at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the University of Brighton in Brighton, UK, from 12-16 september 2007. Its TypeTech section was reported on by Christophe Badani here. Since it is in French, I will loosely translate it for my readers: Adam Twardoch and Miguel Sousa were the most active and frequent speakers. Sousa showed Adobe's FDK (font development kit). Just as at TypoTechnica 2007 in Frankfurt, we are still waiting for the announced demo of Superpolator. It was fun to see the font development comparison between Miguel Sousa and Frank E. Blokland, the former using FontLab Studio while the latter showcased FontMaster. Daniel Rodríguez Valero from the University of Barcelona presented Constructor, a glyph editor based on calligraphic curves. The demo of BitFonter 3 by FontLab was also interesting. Badani liked the talk by Tim Ahrens on Multiple Master in the design of font families. Si Daniels (Microsoft) took the participants on an interesting tour of web fonts.
