ABOUT

Will Y. Schaefer

German creator of Neon, a three-dimensional sans-serif alphabet of inline capitals with a deep shadow, designed in 1936 for the C. E. Weber foundry in Germany. Mac McGrew says: [Neon was] copied in the USA by Pittsburgh's National Type Foundry, which later became Neon Type Foundry. Compare Umbra. The left-hand shadow is unusual.
