Smith Hands (was: Smiths Hands Collection) is the foundry of type designer Robbie Smith in London. I cite that source: Robbie Smith is a graduate of Reigate School of Art&Design and went on to work in Richard Kindersley's letter carving studio in London. Now a freelance type designer in London trading under the moniker of Smith Hands, Robbie is focusing on incorporating the pattern and drive of calligraphy into modern styles of lettering that will fit beautifully into the modern corporate world. Robbie Smith created Snag (2013, a copperplate sans--he calls it a typeface with embryo serifs), Hoplight (2010) and English Engravers Roman (2010, a lapidary / chiseled text typeface---inspired by the beauty and eccentric detailing of British stone carved lettering). |
