Michael Harkins Mike graduated from the University of Plymouth, Exeter School of Art and Design with BA(Hons) in Design: Typography which included some time spent studying at Arnhem in the Netherlands. He gained his MA from Central Saint Martins in Design Studies where his major project was in type design. Mike was a director within a successful design company before returning to education to teach full-time at the University of Portsmouth. He is an advocate of the development of typographic study within graphic design. Mike is currently working under Catherine Dixon and Phil Baines towards a PhD at Central Saint Martins, London, researching contemporary processes of text typeface design. He is a course leader in the MA Graphic Design program at the University of Porsmouth. Speaker at ATypI 2010 in Dublin.
