Jan Charvat

Jan Charvat studied electrical engineering and computer graphic programming at Prague University. set up his own commercial typefoundry in Czechia in 2014. In 2014, he published Globe Grotesk Display, a sans typeface family inspired by Universal Grotesk (1951, Grafotechna). It is contemporary in some design elements (an organic b and a handicapped g spring to mind), yet it has inktraps and other features that hearken back to the era of print. In 2015, he created the poster typeface Velodrama. He currently works for Monotype in Bad Homburg as a font engineer. Speaker at ATypI 2016 in Warsaw on Capital additions to Georgian typography.
