LUC DEVROYE

ABOUT

Cornelis De Hooghe

Flemish engraver, 1540 or 1541-1583. He worked for Christoffel Plantijn in Antwerp. In 1583, he planned an attack on Willem van Oranje, but was caught and convicted as a traitor. He was quartered and guillotined (it is unclear which of these two punishments came first since the second seems almost irrelevant).
