Pieter van Looy Drawing and lettering high school teacher in Haarlem (1853-1930) who studied at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. He published the lettering model book Letters en hare grondvormen (1885, Scheltema & Holkema, Amsterdam). Remarkable in this book is an example of the Dutch krulletter found on the windows of cafes in Amsterdam in the 20th centurys---the Oud Hollandsche Schrijfletter that has its roots in the 17th century Dutch neorenaissance.
