Not Bad Typeface
[Ilya Pazderin]
During his studies at the School of Type design in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Ilya (or Ilja) Pazderin designed the experimental typeface Optica (2016-2017), which covers Latin and Cyrillic. Optica, which is based on Bookman, tries to alter the glyphs for readability at very small (micro) sizes. In 2018, Pazderin set up Not Bad Typeface in Saint Petersburg. In 2022, he published Superstar Grotesk, a free interpretation of the first Cyrillic versions of Royal Grotesk and Akzidenz Grotesk, the (pre-digital) Roublennaya typeface (1947, Anatoly Shchukin). Not quite though, since Roublennaya is a more geometric sans. |
