Omana Katzarska Graphic and type designer and illustrator based in Bulgaria, who has work experience with MCCann Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather. In 2019, she graduated with an MA in type design from the National Academy Of Art. In 2020, wOmana published her first typeface family, Buki. A seven-style Latin-Cyrillic family intended for children's books and textbooks, Buki has a friendly and straightforward design, with low contrast between thick and thin strokes, bolder upper serifs for easier reading, legible letter shapes with open counters, and balanced spacing. It can be used for both longer and shorter texts, as well as headlines. With roots in garalde and old style typefaces, Buki gives a modern touch to its calligraphic broad-nibbed ancestors.
