Designer from Lexington, KY, b. 1919, d. 1999. He was most famous for creating Courier for IBM in 1955. Some sources claim that he created the monospaced Prestige Elite (1953; see here) for the IBM Selectric typewriters. But evidence points more in the direction of Clayton Smith. URW has a digital version of Prestige Elite. Courier has seen many digital implementations:
