Joseph Fry

Born in Birmingham, 1728-1787, Fry was a punchcutter. He became a typefounder in 1764 when he set up the Fry Letter Foundry in Bristol together with William Pine, a printer. He designed Fry's Baskerville (1768) and Old Face Open (Fry's Shaded) (1788).
