When someone asked on abf, "What is the reason for the high price of fonts?", Scott Arnold replied "The increasingly less than subtle play between generosity and avarice seems to be the only deciding factor. With both free and commercial fonts I have found that you are always just as likely to get less than you paid for than more. To my eye - to mention only one of the more obvious attributes of quality - lack of properly crafted kerning pairs has reached epidemic proportions and, intriguingly, bears little or no relation to the price of the "product"." |
