Boston Type Foundry [Edward Pelouze] Boston-based foundry, est. 1817 by Edward Pelouze. Also called Bedlington&Ewer, Boston Type&Stereotype Co. (1825-1845), and John K. Rogers, Agent (the latter happened when it was bought by John K. Rogers and Edward Pelouze in 1853). Acquired by ATF in 1892. Free specimen books: Condensed specimen book from the Boston Type Foundry (1860, John K. Rogers&Co, Boston), Popular designs for artistic printers. Selected from the novelties manufactured by the Central type foundry, of St. Louis and Boston type foundry, of Boston. The only manufacturers of copper alloy type (1892). Digital revivals: Penny Arcade (1992, Solotype) revives the Victorian typeface Mural (1890). For a thinner version of the same font, see Mural (2005, Solotype). Excelsis (2004 Solotype) is based on Duerer (1890, Boston Type Foundry). Nanki Poo NF (2004, Nicks Fonts) is based on Boston's Mikado from the late 1800s. Monument (Solotype) revives a type from 1893 that was also cast at the Central Type Foundry. Beantown Bounce NF (2007, Nicks Fonts) is a revival of a quaint Victorian typeface shown in the 1898 catalog called Century. Suffiya NF (2011, Nicks Fonts) revives Moslem. Boston Blackie NF (2004, Nicks Fonts) is a blackletter revival from their 1832 catalog. Reliquaire AOE (2015, Brian J. Bonislawsky) revives the somber blackletter typeface Memorial (1881).
