Rudolph Hell
A doctor and an engineer (1902-2002). He was mostly known for his invention of the fax machine and the color scanner. In Kiel, Germany, he stablished his business, Dr.-Ing. Rudolph Hell GmbH, after the original facility in Berlin was destroyed in World War II. The firm was acquired by Siemens in 1981, and in 1990 merged with Linotype AG to become Linotype-Hell AG. The Rudolph Hell company asked Gerard Unger to create a new round-nibbed script type. From Unger's felt tip exercises grew a font in 1985 that was licensed to ITC and released as ITC Flora (1989). |
