ABOUT

Newspaper fonts

Bill Davis of Ascender Corporation studied newspaper type in 2004. He found that the 10 most popular typeface families used by today's newspapers are Poynter, Franklin Gothic, Helvetica, Utopia, Times, Nimrod, Century Old Style, Interstate (1993, Tobias Frere-Jones), Bureau Grotesque and Miller. He also found that many of the newspapers studied rely on custom typefaces (7 of the top 7, and 35 of the top 100 dailies did this).
