Fontwise
Fontwise is a part of Agfa Monotype. In September 2003 it was launched under the directorship of John McCallum. It intends to help companies manage their fonts. In particular, it has a few EULA (end user licensing agreement) templates that may be helpful, according to them. None of their prototype licenses include unlimited use of any font purchased, and in fact, Fontwise is associated with the infamous FAST police and with known font thieves [Agfa ripped off a Zapf design], and Fontwise's site on licensing contains incorrect information [it proclaims that "a font is the software that describes the letterforms and glyphs in a typeface", while in fact, a description of letterforms in electronic format is just like a passive stream of data, just like an electrionic file containing a grocery list or a jpg picture file]. |
