Friedrich Wilhelm Bauer Typefounder, b. 1834, Frankfurt am Main, d. 1923, Stuttgart. Designer of Bauersche Fraktur (1905, Bauersche Giesserei) and Gutenberg-Gotisch (1880, Bauersche Giesserei, with Gottfried Wilhelm Theodor Friebel). Bernhard Schnelle gives the date 1912 for Bauersche Fraktur schmalfett and eng halbfett, and 1919 for Bauersche Fraktur as a whole. Enge halbfette Bauersche Fraktur was revived in 2013 by Christoph Schwedhelm.
