From the wikipedia: style of Japanese typeface commonly used for printed material such as books. The name Mincho literally means "Ming Dynasty". It is a printed variant of the kaisho style of calligraphy originally intended for woodblock printing. The shapes are squarish. The horizontal strokes are thin and the vertical ones thick. Strokes end with brushy fish scales (uroko). Variants of Mincho include kykashotai used for educational materials for children, and shinbuntai used for printing newspapers. |
