 Jules-Auguste Habert-Dys
Illustrator, born in Fresnes in 1850. In the late 1880s, he published Alphabets (J. Rouam, Paris), a book that featured decorative alphabets. After studying under the ceramicist Ulysse Bernard in Blois, he moved to Paris in 1873, where he spent four years in the atelier of Jean-Léon Gérôme. Later, he was influenced by graphic artist Félix Bracquemond, one of the first "japonists" in France. See also here. |
