ABOUT

Kigali Designs [Diane Collier]

From the blurb at TypeCon 2009: Diane Collier has over 20 years experience in type design and development specializing in complex scripts, with technical expertise in font hinting and OpenType development. Collier started her professional career in 1988 as a type designer for Compugraphic Corp. in Massachusetts, where she worked with many of today's top designers and developers. Collier started Kigali Designs in 1998 and has established a reputation in the industry for providing high quality work, while developing long term relationships with companies like Microsoft, Ascender, Monotype Imaging and others. She has written several font development specifications and created training videos for Microsoft. In addition, Collier provides training in many of the industry's type development tools for companies and individuals. When not on the computer, Collier teaches pottery and drawing at a local art school. She made a font by Arthur Baker into an 8-set family in 1994, called Kigali, an African-look family in memory of the victims of the 1994 Ruanda genocide. Kigali Designs will also do custom font work from their office in Massachusetts.
