ABOUT

Nimbus Sans and Helvetica

On March, 2, 1988, Peter Karow of URW registered the Helvetica clone Nimbus Sans as a new and original font design with the patent office in Munich, Germany. I assume Helvetica had been patented before that, in which case the patent office blundered in granting the patent twice for the same design. If the Helvetica design has not been patented, then I'd call this a shrewd move on the part of Peter Karow.
