Whittier
A (metal) Copperplate Gothic style face. Mac McGrew: Whittier is a wide, lightface gothic, similar to Copperplate Gothic Light but with even tinier serifs. It was introduced by Keystone Type Foundry in 1903. Whittier Bold was originated by the same foundry in 1910, and is comparable to Copperplate Gothic Heavy. Neither typeface is as well known as the Copperplates, though. Condensed and extrabold versions followed, but were quickly lost in Keystone's merger with ATF. Also compare Steelplate Gothic. |
