Jordan Wannemacher Savannah, GA-based creator of Modern Gothic (2012): I designed this typeface out of three basic shapes broken apart angularly. The massaged result is Modern Gothic. The typeface aesthetic was inspired by sharp medieval architecture and modern curvilinear forms echoing the spirit of the Bauhaus. Behance link.
