ABOUT

Bon Min

South Korean type designer who graduated from the MATD program at the University of reading in 2013. He writes about his graduation typeface Barbari, which covers Latin and Hangul, and has a range of sans and serif styles: The brush style was chosen to find a harmonization point between the Hangul and the Latin alphabet, solving the problems with different functions of the brush for each script. The Hangul brush script implies tradition and seriousness, while Latin follows the rhythmical movement of the human hand. Barbari is an interim result of this approach, intended for bilingual text in magazines and journals.
