Mozilla and Adobe's SVG
Mozilla and Adobe joined forces when they proposed SVG tables for use in multicolor fonts. Bezier-based glyphs are thus replaced by SVG images. The SVG graphics language is quite powerful (almost like PostScript), and the images can be scaled for clean output. This format is supoorted in Firefox version 26 and higher, and is a persnal favorite of mine among the choices. However, one could also have achieved this by PostScript or by encoding the old Type 3 font format, and I am wondering if font design is not making a full circle back to something equivalent tp type 3. |
