Aarhaus is Ari Hausel's German type foundry located near Munich, est. 2006. Hausels's teachers included Heinz Peikert (calligraphy) and Günter Gerhard Lange (typography). In 2015, he designed the German expressionist typeface Irrlicht based on Christian Heinrich Kleukens's 1923 typeface Judith Type. Dunkle Irrlicht is a fairly faithful rendition and extension of Judith Type. The Licht style combines a stencil version and an inline version that was inspired by dry, cracked wood. |
