Noah Johnson the designer behind Practical Lettering Studio, a vintage-style type foundry based in Los Angeles. Designer of the free fat finger font Noah (2016). Commercial typefaces include: - PLS Amusement (2026). This amusement park-themed font is based on a hand-painted alphabet created by sign painter Alf Becker in the mid 1940s for Signs of the Times magazine.
- PLS Chainstitcher Script. Designed to evoke the hand-operated look of chain-stitch embroidery.
- PLS Draftsmen. A monoline Speedball-style font inspired by the traditional draftsmen handwriting seen on early 20th century blueprints and shop drawings.
- PLS Neutun (2026). A variable script based on Rudolf Koch's famous 1923 poster font Neuland.
- PLS Ruth Script. Based on Ruth Franklin's 1950's Artistic Script.
- No. 37 Alf Becker Alphabet. Art deco.
- No. 41 Alf Becker Alphabet. Art deco at its best.
- No. 55 Alf Becker Alphabet. Goofy lettering based on Alf Becker's Bold Frolic.
- No. 137 Alf Becker Alphabet. An art deco typeface based on a hand-lettered alphabet by Alf Becker from 1943.
- No. 210 Alf Becker Alphabet. Based on a 1949 brush script called Extreme Modern Sans Serif by sign painter Alf Becker.
