Zurich-based graphic design studio that often work for art and architecture clients. It is run by Marc Kappeler, Markus Reichenbach and Ruth Amstutz. Font subpage. Regina (2008) is a custom rounded typeface in Latin and Cyrillic for Regina Gallery in London and Moscow. Balkankaravan (2008) is a layered typeface custom-designed for Balkankaravan. In 2010, they made an ornamental caps typeface consisting of building demolitions. In 2012-2013, Grilli Type published their typeface family GT Pressura (with monospaced and proportional versions), which was inspired by type stamped on shipping boxes. GT Pressura was co-designed by Ruth Amstutz and Dominik Huber. In 2014, Dominic Huber, Marc Kappeler and Noel Leu published the extensive text family GT Sectra (Grilli Type), which, in view if its breadth and angular design will prove to be one the world's major releases of 2014. GT Sectra won first prize in the TDC 2015 Type Design competition. Their blurb: GT Sectra was originally designed for the German-language magazine Reportagen, a bi-monthly publication specializing in literary reporting. Its long-form stories require a typeface that works well in text, but not at the expense of character. GT Sectra strikes that balance. In 2020, Dominic Huber and Marc Kappeler co-designed the 112-style GT Flexa at Grilli Type. Flexa is also a variable type with width, slant and thickness axes, and has a monospaced subfamily. GT Flexa is characterized by simple shapes and penetrating ink traps. |
