[Habib Khoury]
Israeli designer Habib Khoury (born in Fassouta, Upper Galilee, 1967) is presently Executive Creative Director of Avant Design Communications, which specializes in trilingual typography and communications. The type division, AvanType, offers commercial Latin, Arabic and Hebrew typefaces. He holds a Masters degree from Central Saint Martins College in London. Habib spent several years in Haifa, London, and New York, and is now based in Cathedral City, CA. His Hebrew designs: Casablanca, Derby, Falafil, Girnata, Rituals, Talona. His Latin fonts include Adorey, Alluremda, Granada, Merkory and Stocky. He won an award at Bukvaraz 2001 for Maqsaf. At TDC2 2003, he won a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design for Falafil. His Arabic typefaces include Chiaka, Ghirnata (1996), Sinan (1992), Alwadi (1996), Onwan (1998), Shallal Ultra Light (1995), Saljook (1997), Barhoom (1995), Alkhoury (1997), Sayaf, Maqsaf and Qasab (1998). He won an award at TDC2 2006 for Hogariet (2005, a Hebrew face) and at TDC2 2008 for Al Rajhi (an Arabic text family). |
