Happyloverstown [Jonathan Calugi] Very talented Pistoia, Italy-based designer (b. 1982). His typefaces: HAPPYLOVERSTOWN.EU-LoversSquare (2007; and Lover Square Stencil, 2009), a free art deco font. Supa Dupa Lovers (2008) showcases fantastic type examples. Right Way Yogurt and Cornflakes (2008) is a frilly didone typeface sent down from heaven. Somalove (2008) has African influences. Braggadocio Fat Love (2008) is a circle-themed stencil face. Pups In Town (2008) is a sans all-caps face. Noodle Park (2009). Free here, Noodle Park is a high-contrast art deco titling face. Bada b u m (2009) is just sheer pleasurable geometric experimentation. Hand Love (2009) is a fat counterless font. Love Sick (2009) is an anorexic hairtline sans. Federico Landini and Jonathan Calugo cooperated on Chinotto Regular (2012), a sans typeface custom designed for the Pistoia Underground Festival. Paul Paper (2013). A follower of Calugi writes: Jonathan is a young illustrator hailing from Pistoia, Italy. It's nearly impossible to not recognize his signature style: what at first appears to be a child-like doodling, a closer look will reveal a world of intricate, carefully crafted patterns and eccentric geometric forms.
