ABOUT

Julius Schmohl

In 1891, Julius Schmohl and Ernst Lauschke designed an art nouveau and a Victorian face for BBS. Schmohl was born in Germany, but lived in Chicago for most of his life. In 1895, he and Max Rosenow published an upright script with BBS. This ronde typeface was originally known as Oliphant and renamed Advertisers Upright Script in 1925. In 2014, Spiece Graphics created a digital version of it, Milroy Upright SG.
