Jonathan Ball is a lettering and typographic designer based in Seattle, WA. In 2015, he founded his own commercial type foundry. His typeface Basecoat (2016) is a wonderful handcrafted geometric sans serif inspired by sign painting and influenced by modern gothics. Also in 2016, he published the market signage typeface Thrifty Numerals and the geometric sans typeface family Acre. Typefaces from 2019: Musubi (a tiki-inspired cocktail lounge typeface). Typefaces from 2021: Alkaline (Jonathan Ball, Mattox Shuler and Brian Brubaker at Fort Foundry: This typeface family at an 18 degree slope was inspired by 1950s lettering and logos on kitchen appliances). |
